“Bridges to Cross/Bridges to Burn” was a collaborative installation created by Mary Bernstein, Harriet Diamond and Rebecca Muller for the APE Gallery in Northampton MA. Unfettered by the confines of traditional art, it merged the artists' talents to carve out a space made from “concrete,” wire mesh and “girders,” peopled with humans and humanoid drones. The installation invited the viewer to reflect upon the trajectory of a life. Where have we come from? Where are we now? Where are we going? Together, artist and viewer cross bridges, walk pathways, travel (and sometimes wander off) beams, and peer into eroding tunnels.
